Khao Sok River by Canoe

Our canoe ride is a wonderful, fun and relaxing way for both children and adults to experience the lazy Sok River and the magnificent nature of Khao Sok National Park. As you float down the river amid the sheer limestone cliffs and dense green jungle, you will really feel at one with nature. The slow current gives you plenty of time to admire the scenery, spot water birds, and if you’re lucky, sleeping snakes, and even a monkey or two.

Each of the canoes carries two people, along with the local guide, who sits at the back and skillfully paddles and guides the canoe down the river. The guides come from local villages nearby, and while their English skills may be limited, they make up for it with their knowledge and infectious enthusiasm for the surrounding natural habitat and their desire to share it with you. They have keen eyes and will point out hidden wildlife that you probably would not see. Keep your camera ready for possible shots of exotic birds, monkeys or other wildlife, as well as stunning river and mountain views. Halfway, we stop for a short trek into the forest on the river’s edge where the guide will prepare tea or coffee over an open fire. Watch him boil the water in a bamboo stem and enjoy your hot drink, which will have the distinct sweet tang of bamboo. Guests should be aware that the break time and place depends on the season and shore accessibility.

After the break we continue down the Sok River. The tour ends not far from Anurak Lodge, and the transfer takes only 5 to 10 minutes by car.
