Jungle Dinner

Have you ever wondered how Thai forest communities in Khao Sok and other isolated parts of the country cooked their meals a century ago? Back then, small villages didn’t have access to the modern metal cooking utensils we have today and so they relied on the forest not only for their cooking supplies, but also for food itself.
During your Anurak Jungle Dinner, we will take you back in time and demonstrate how traditional Thai cuisine was made and where many of Thailand’s favourite dishes had their origins, prepared with natural tools and ingredients like bamboo, plants, and herbs all sourced from the jungle.
Meet at Anurak’s reception and our staff will lead you to our jungle hut located on the property. Your culinary guide will then demonstrate the jungle cooking process, feel free to ask any questions.

Elephant Experience

Traditionally, elephants have played an important role in Thai culture. For centuries they were captured and trained to drag logs in the forest, but as machinery began to replace them, giving rides to tourists became a popular attraction. Many of the elephant camps that offer rides keep their elephants in poor conditions, chained up for hours while the special chairs that are used to carry tourists cause permanent injuries to their backs.
At Anurak Community Lodge, we do not support animal cruelty in any shape or form and strictly do not work with elephant camps that offer elephant rides. During our ethical Elephant Experience we take a different approach by providing guests the chance to interact with these gentle giants directly; helping the mahouts (elephant handlers) to feed them their favourite snacks and bathing them in the river before taking a stroll through the palm tree plantations and back to their grassy paddock for another fresh-fruit snack.
Your guide will show you how to prepare a natural medicinal elephant laxative to feed them and then a light snack and coffee/tea will be had before returning back to Anurak Community Lodge.
