The Khao Sok Jungle Trekking Tour is a half-day jungle experience in a less visited part of beautiful Khao Sok National Park. Your guide will pick you up at Anurak Lodge at 1300 for your half day Khao Sok Jungle Trekking Tour. We will drive 10 km along the highway and then up a dirt road to Bang Man Ranger Station where you will be one of very few visitors in this of Khao Sok National Park. The park area is 739 sq. km, which includes the Cheow Lan Lake. The park is the largest area of virgin forest in southern Thailand and is a remnant of rainforest, which is older and more diverse than the Amazon rain forest. The park is the habitat of wild mammals such as Malayan tapir, Asian elephant, tiger, sambar deer, bear, guar, banteng, serow, wild boar, pig-tailed macaque, langur, squirrel, muntjak, mouse deer, barking deer. Most of the animals are elusive and there is not much chance you will spot them.
The hike is relatively flat so everyone in reasonable shape can embark on this jungle adventure. You need good shoes and a raincoat. Remember this is a rainforest with rainfall year round. Check the ‘What to Bring’ section. We start to hike for one and a half hours along the side of a wide valley through rainforest with towering old growth trees. Keep an eye out for rare giant hornbills and several species of monkey. Different species of gibbon, such as the white-handed gibbons, are found in the park. You might hear their characteristic call. Enjoy the serenity of the forest. There is plenty of time for pictures. Depending on the season you will visit Civet Cave or a series of small waterfalls. On the way back, hike at an easy pace for another ninety minutes while learning about medicinal plants from your guide. The hike ends at the ranger station. From here we will transfer you back to Anurak Lodge where you will arrive at around 1700. Say goodbye to your guide. It is the end of your Khao Sok Jungle Trekking Tour.
